CreativeWorkshops

Our creative workshops offer a good opportunity to “get a taste” and “live it up” – regardless of whether you are an advanced or beginner. Our workshop leaders give tips & advice, offer inspiration & space to try things out for yourself.

The courses take mainly place in German. However, many of our workshop leaders speak English and provide support with understanding if needed.

The courses take place in the rooms of the creative workshops in the basement of J.-G.-Nathusius-Ring 1 and 2 (WH 2 and 3) and at JoGo, formerly CampusTheater, at dormitory 7 in Magdeburg.

Participation fees:

Students: 20,00 € per course (except ceramic courses)

Ceramic courses for students: 35,00 € per course

University staff and guests: 45,00 € per course (except ceramic courses)

Ceramic coureses for university staff and guests: 60,00 € per course

Ceramic

In this creative workshop, you will craft unique ceramic pieces based on your own ideas. You will learn various hand-building techniques as well as how to work on the potter’s wheel. You can personalize your creations using sgraffito, stamping, incising, or glazes. Expert guidance is provided, and all necessary materials are supplied.

Painting & Graphics

“Art washes the dust of everyday life from the soul.” The workshop leader provides guidance and information on painting and drawing techniques using pencil, charcoal, gouache, acrylic, and pastels, as well as tips for creating linocuts. The focus is on supporting your own projects and creativity. Participants also work together on nature studies. All materials are provided—simply bring your ideas and imagination!

Textile design

Fabrics, colors, shapes – and your ideas! In this workshop, you will learn the basics of sewing and bring your own creative projects to life. Whether it’s minor alterations, home textiles, or a self-designed garment: from the initial sketch and cutting the fabric to realizing your own design, you can experiment and create a truly unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

Wool & Yarn

Together, we explore the creative possibilities of working with wool and yarn. Beginners learn the fundamentals of knitting and crochet, while those with more experience receive practical assistance and tips for their own ideas and projects. The result: hats, scarves, gloves, socks, or unique home accessories.

Dates:	Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., 1st appointment: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Improv theater

Together, we explore the fundamentals of improv theater: spontaneous play, making and accepting offers, physical expression, and action and reaction. The focus is on various short-form games. At least one group performance is planned for the end of the course. The course is conducted in German.

Theater in English

Together, we will explore key acting techniques, including text and character work, stage presence, creative play and scene development. The course welcomes anyone interested in performing in English, regardless of previous experience. A public performance at JoGo (formerly the Campus Theatre) is planned for the end of the semester, featuring a short sketch developed during the course. The course takes place in English.

Photography digital

In this course, you will learn about the relationships between aperture, shutter speed and ISO value and the basics of image composition. We will apply what we have learned on photo tours. Please bring your own digital camera, a freshly charged battery and other photo accessories. The course is in German only.

Teilnahmebedingungen / Terms and Conditions of Participation:

Mit meiner Anmeldung akzeptiere ich diese Teilnahmebedingungen. Die Anmeldung erfolgt online und begründet zunächst keinen Anspruch auf einen Platz. Die Teilnahme ist erst nach Zahlung der Teilnahmegebühr und Bestätigung durch das Studentenwerk Magdeburg verbindlich.
Die Plätze sind begrenzt; Studierende werden bevorzugt. Die Vergabe erfolgt nach Reihenfolge von Anmeldung und Zahlungseingang. Die Gebühr ist innerhalb von 3 Werktagen zu zahlen, andernfalls kann der Platz anderweitig vergeben werden.
Bei Nichtteilnahme besteht grundsätzlich kein Anspruch auf Rückerstattung. Fällt der Kurs wegen zu geringer Teilnehmendenzahl oder aus organisatorischen Gründen aus, wird die gezahlte Gebühr erstattet. Ein Widerrufsrecht besteht gemäß § 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 9 BGB grundsätzlich nicht.
Die Teilnahme erfolgt auf eigene Verantwortung. Räume, Materialien und Geräte sind sorgfältig zu behandeln; den Anweisungen der Workshopleiter*innen ist Folge zu leisten. Grobe Verstöße können zum Ausschluss führen.

By registering, I accept these terms and conditions of participation. Registration is carried out online and does not, in itself, guarantee a place. Participation is only confirmed once the participation fee has been paid and confirmation has been received from the Studentenwerk Magdeburg.
Places are limited; priority is given to students. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis according to the order of registration and receipt of payment. The fee must be paid within 3 working days; otherwise, the place may be allocated to someone else.
In the event of non-attendance, there is generally no entitlement to a refund. If the course is cancelled due to an insufficient number of participants or for organisational reasons, the fee paid will be refunded. In accordance with Section 312g(2)(9) of the German Civil Code (BGB), there is generally no right of withdrawal.
Participation is at your own risk. Premises, materials and equipment must be treated with care; the instructions of the workshop leaders must be followed. Serious breaches may result in exclusion.
